Our Kitchen

Drawing inspiration from the Eastern Mediterranean and the Levant, our kitchen uses traditional wood-fired and charcoal methods - techniques passed down, perfected, and preserved. Every ingredient is chosen with purpose. Every plate carries a method, a memory, and a place.

VIXI [vix-i] - Latin for "I have lived." Born from decades of craft and curiosity, the name carries everything: the experience, the age, the mistakes, and the lessons. It lives in every dish that leaves the kitchen.

Purposefully lived-in. Colourful, warm, and welcoming to all - at 49 Bree Street, Cape Town, this is a space where pretence is left very much at the front door. A safe space to be exactly yourself.

To create a space where friends and family share love, laughter, and a table worth remembering. The menu spans wood-fired breads, charcoal-grilled meats, handmade pastas, fresh seafood, and sharing plates built for the table. Where all are welcome. Where all are fed well.

Looking for somewhere to have a late lunch, Google search helped us find VIXI. There were not many customers and the bright afternoon sun made the colourful
interior even more welcoming.
The female server was cheerful and helpful, and the food was tasty and good value.
Overall a very enjoyable way to pass a couple of hours.

Very good food, but the service was a bit messy, which somewhat dampened the experience. But the food was delicious and the place was very nice.
Noisy and not very intimate.

The food was amazing! The Caprese salad very unique with avocado, but extremely tasty and Gorgonzola ravioli was extremely good. The service was great. They sure try hard and you can tell everyone was enjoying their meal.

A good place to eat, have wine, cocktails, or beers at the bar.
Prices are very reasonable for what you get.

Vixi is an absolute gem! From the moment we arrived, the service was welcoming and professional.
Every dish was perfectly cooked and packed with flavour — you can tell the ingredients are high-quality and fresh.
The setting is comfortable, modern, and ideal for both couples and groups.
Highly recommend Vixi to anyone looking for great food and great vibes in town.
